Day::3

Gen 50: 15-21

The first time i read this passage this morning, one line jumped out to me.

"When Joseph received their message, he wept."

It struck me because weeping is a deep thing. Maybe it's just because we don't use that word much these days, but when i hear that someone is weeping, i hear that someone is hurting. Deeply. So Joseph wept because his brothers sent him a message from their dad. A message that in essence said, "forgive your brothers." So it wasn't even a heartfelt apology from his cruel brothers that made him weep. It was a cold note sent from his cruel brothers. And all they could think of to say was their fathers words.

I guess today i kindof feel like one of the brothers. Needing so much forgiveness, so much help, so much grace, that it doesn't seem even remotely right to ask God in my own words. But He has already written a note for me, and he stained it with the blood of his dear son. He invites me to take that note and bring it to his feet. And yes, He has already wept for me.
