Day::26

WELCOMING THE STRANGER

So i've been thinking alot about community lately.

Community: A group of people who live life together with Christ's authenticity and grace.

I've realized that in true (and ideal) christian community, there is honesty, there is grace, and there is love. So today's passage fit in nicely. I love how Ruth is not afraid to go to Boaz and be very real with him and tell him what she needs...even when she is the foreigner and she doesn't know how he will respond. I love how she has to take the first step and be brave and put herself out there. And i love how he responds with such acceptance and really wants to help her.

It reminds me of something Dave said in his talk on Wednesday night. He said there are three things we have to do-

We have to stand up.
We have to come to Jesus.
We have to give our stuff (pain, worries, doubts) to Him.

So i think this is key in community. When two or more people have done the painful work of these three things (standing, coming, and giving), then we can meet each other at Jesus' feet...and worship Him there. Together.
