Day::11

DON'T FORGET

Numbers 9:4-5, 9-12

Sometimes i forget how symbolic the passover feast was. Sometimes i think it was just like Christmas dinner for the Israelites.

Christmas dinner: a time when we enjoy food, family, and fellowship.
The Passover feast: A time when we remember God's great faithfulness and enjoy his presence.

So what's the difference? The difference is in who (or Who) we enjoy.

The passover feast was so much more than just a Christmas dinner. It was remembering the day that God changed their life forever. And it symbolized a day when God would change our lives forever. I wonder if even the people of Isreal sometimes forgot that.

The book suggests that we create a symbol to remind us of God's faithfulness. I feel like i do this alot. I like symbolism and reminders. I'm always wearing bracelets to remind me of something that happened. Three of the walls in my room have paintings that each represent something God has done in me. And the other wall has cards from my birthday and pictures from my residents at the nursing home where i work. All of these scream God's faithfulness. All of them should make me wake up in the morning and remember his goodness the day before. But sometimes even i forget.

Lord, thank you for covering my walls with faithfulness. You are good.

  1. What a beautiful reminder. I love this. I think it is so true that whether we were an OT Hebrew woman or a 21st Century woman, we have to live to intentionally not only remember but celebrate God's goodness and faithfulness in our lives. They had a huge party every year, but in our culture and technology, we are given things they didn't have (like you pointed out) to celebrate and remember...like photography, different art mediums, computers...BLOGS...etc. God has enabled us to cover our walls with His faithfulness. Let's celebrate Him today! :)
