GOD OF THE ASYLUM-CITY
Numbers 35:9-15
God is so committed to redemption that he wants to have a city for murderers before they are convicted. He is a God of justice AND refuge. That's pretty cool when you think about it.
Another thing that's cool is thinking about God walking into your room. I did that tonight. Sometimes i wonder how i would react if Jesus suddenly came back and it usually freaks me out. I guess it's just kindof spooky. But tonight it was different when i thought about God casually walking into my room. I pictured myself being excited to see Him, but not freaked out. More just excited to see Him. Like a good friend would be. I pictured him coming to sit down with me on my bed, and us having a conversation. And i think in one sense that's how it would be. But in another sense, i think i would fall face down on the floor first.

Michelle, that justice-refuge paradox is SOOO cool. You are right. It has been floating around my head the last few days, in fact. Our God is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed thinking about God walking into the room...what a neat experience. Yet, at the end of it, I asked myself, "Isn't He always in this room...isn't He always sitting with me as I do my devotions?" Too bad I don't count on His presence that much...or snuggle up to Him every morning during my devotions. Instead, I sit down alone to accomplish something. Ugh.
